DEPARTMENT OF SANSKRIT

The department of Sanskrit was established in the year 2012. The faculty members on department are well qualified and experienced. The department of Sanskrit welcomes the first semester newly admitted students and provides information and orientation regarding future prospects of the subject Sanskrit. The department of Sanskrit promotes the appreciation of this rich and scientific language to the understanding of several Indian cultural, philosophical and religious traditions. The department makes it a point to monitor the progress of the students by getting feedback from them with regard to the curriculum teaching-learning-evaluation. In order to make teaching an interesting and pleasurable experience, the faculty regularly conducts seminars, guest lectures, and group discussions. Additional study material is given to the students to help them learn Sanskrit easily. Students are advised to visit Sanskrit websites and gain access to more information and also develop greater interest in the subject. The students express satisfaction with regard to the syllabus, the methods of teaching, and evaluation. Besides, the faculty and the students participate in extension activities such as clean and green programmes through NSS. At present students are assessed by monthly tests, two internal examinations and a semester end examination. Remedial classes are taken for the students who lag behind in getting hold on the subject. The alumni of the department have been serving in various state, Central Government and private organizations (both in India and abroad) in such cadres as administrators, lecturers, teachers, scientists and software professionals. They often come to the college and meet the present students and share their views with them with regard to the subject and institution. They express happiness about the performance of the department. The department has its own reputation in the university area as it has been imparting quality education through guest lectures and interaction with eminent teachers from various colleges.

VISION & MISSION:

To promote and develop the area of the course to students on Vedas and upanishaths , philosophy , History of ancient Indian culture and other areas.

OBJECTIVES

• To conduct seminars on Vedic mathematics.
• To develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

The Department of Sanskrit offers the following programmes in CBCS mode from the academic year 2015-2016. Besides, The Department involves in teaching interdisciplinary courses i.e., non-core subjects particularly Department of Commerce, Statistics and Mathematics.

ACTIVITIES:

The cardinal co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of the Department conducted like Class room Seminars, group discussions, quizzes, debates, JAMs, extension work, education field trips, etc., for the benefit of both the student. Extension, guest lectures and invited lectures are some of the important activities of the faculty for achieving quality education. The Department of Telugu has its own contribution in organizing cultural activities “Maathru Bhasha Dinoschavam” (Mother Language Day), “Sankranthi Sambaralu” (Pongal Celebrations) reflecting the true spirit of Telugu people.

To opt more students as a Sanskrit in second language.
